Jonathan is Professor of Jewish Music History at the Academy for Jewish Religion, California.

He is also Tutor in Old Testament at Greenwich School of Theology and Extraordinary Professor of Theology at North-West University, Potchefstroom.

Jonathan is the historical music editor and regular contributor to the journal of the Western States Jewish History Association, and a research scholar for the Jewish Museum of the American West.

He serves as Cantor of Adat Chaverim in Los Angeles, Bet Knesset Bamidbar in Las Vegas, and Vintage Westwood Horizons in Los Angeles.
